Newcastle Upon Tyne GB
Hello! I'm Alex, 25 and from Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK)
I started out collecting records from a very young age. I've now been DJing for over 4 years, playing mainly in my home tow. Of Newcastle, playing my own selections of Rare Soul, Modern, Boogie, Funk, and Northern.
My taste in rare soul music has always been very much across the board. Because of me having such an eccentric taste in music it's helped me meet some incredible people along the way and long may that continue.
I can't wait to meet you all in Lucerne for what will no doubt an incredible and memorable weekender In March 2020!
My Current Spins
_Ike Strong - Your Loves Got Me Dancing - Mable
_Living Color - Gotta Strange Feeling - Madhatter
_Wayne Carter - Mad Mouth Woman - Mootrey's
_Pervis Lee - You Don't Care - Kincaid
_Carl Carlton - I Can Feel It - Back Beat
Flo Matt a.k.a. Buddy Flo has not only the flexibility, which he proudly shows off at the Soul Yoga Sessions but also a nose for the exquisite black gold. He particularly likes the Rrrolitas that really hit deep into the heart and play on one's heart strings. But in his collection you’ll also find some Modern Soul mover that make you throw your hands and clothes in the air.
His current Top 5 spins are:
Zella Jackson - Days Are Just Like People
Onyxx - Midnight Lady
Dorthy Johnson - If It's Not Love Don't Waste My Time
Odetta - Hit Or Miss
Aura - Freex
The DJ collective Capital Soul Sinners was founded 13 years ago. Five DJs joined together in a period of a tired or non-existent Rhythm'n'Blues and Soul scene in the Swiss capital Berne.
DJ el Tigre has been spinning records for over 35 years and was earlier bass player for the "The Monsters" and "The Super Supers". Later the Capital Soul Sinners released the single "Mama Soul / The Super Supers (CSS-001)” on the occasion of their fifth anniversary.
N'dee Fresh has been in the business for several decades and has an impressive record collection of Rap history too in addition to his Soul collection. DJ el Mensajero joined the collective later after living in Bangkok for several years and returning to Switzerland. He is also addicted to French sixties records. The youngest sinners Silvio Serioso and Madame Violence met for the first time in a bar where she worked and he was on his way to his very first gig as a DJ back in 2005. They got to know each other and their common passion for soul music was strong: later they got married and now they mostly spin records together.
DJ N'dee Fresh, Madame Violence & Silvio Serioso will represent the Capital Soul Sinners at the 9th NOT TOO YOUNG Swiss Soul Weekender.
Two of my favourite pastimes are travelling and soul music, luckily I’ve managed to combine both over the past few years.
I’ve been fortunate enough to play both in the UK and Europe at some of the best days, nights and weekends. Currently I’m one of the residents at True Soul and run Good Good Feeling with my wife Lynne (MWL).
Some people affectionately call me “half man-half mattress” but I don’t plan on sleeping much this weekender…
Current Top Six (always subject to change)
Lee Stone - What Is Life (Break Out)
Charles Simmons - You’ve Got It All (Hitsound)
Chuck Ray - I Don’t Mind (Tam-Boo)
Charmels - As Long As I’ve Got You (Volt)
Wendy Rene - After Laughter Comes Tears (Stax)
Delois Eaiy - Don’t Be Afraid (Big Vick Hammond)
Soul is the key-word! But I love music in general. More specifically music that has Soul. It can be anything.
Originally from Rome, based in Copenhagen where I started collecting 45s. As DJ, I like to play different sets of any kind of style that belongs to the 60s and 70s. I've always loved Northern/Funk with a hint of Latin, and also some RnB and Rocksteady.
I feel absolutely honored for being invited in Lucerne for NTY. I'm looking forward to be there and dance, play and meet new and old friends!
Some of my current fav spins
1 - Deceived - Ruby
2 - So Lonely - Perfections
3 - I Need Your Love Inside Me - The Strangers
4 - Peace Begins Within - Nora Dean
5 - Daddy Little Boy Got Sponk - David Swinton
Hello everybody, my name is Fabian and I am from Basel.
I got into Soul music via the Ska & Scooter scene when my older brother took me to a concert of «Bad Manners». As a 14 years old, this experience was spellbinding! I soon started collecting Ska and Reggae records until I got into Northern Soul a few years later.
I am mainly into classic 6Ts Northern but I also love Early Reggae and Beat. Crossover and Modern? Maybe slowly getting there… I turned to be a little bit more experimental these days. Being more of a collector, I only DJ-ed a few times at the fantastic Swiss Soul Weekender in Lucerne.
Some records I do not get tired of listening to:
The Cautions - No Other Way
Debonaires - Headache In My Heart
Stromie Wynters - Life Saver
Shirley Wahls - Why Am I Crying
Joey Gee - It’s More Than I Deserve
Thanks again for inviting me again this year! Looking forward to another great weekender in Lucerne.

DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab = L.O.V.E.
"Funky Fever" is a party label which takes place every first Saturday of the month in Lucerne. The series was launched nearly 20 years ago in the Bar 57 with Dj Black Virus and experienced - thanks to DJ Murphy - its revival in the Bar 59.
Now Funky Fever has been inviting for over 10 years almost all Funk and Soul DJs from Switzerland as a guest. Even some international DJs rocked the turntables, such as Tobias Kyrmaier (DE), Mr. Thing (UK), Boca 45 (UK), Skeme Richards (US), Amir Abdullah (US), Amerigo Gazeway (US) or Mirko Machine (DE).
Another highlights were the performances by the bands «Breakestra» (US), den «Mighty Mocambos» (DE) and the «James Brown Tribute Show».
Behind the label are the vinyl freaks DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab who you can meet for a chat with beer also every Wednesday in the Haifish Bar in Lucerne (or at the Co-Mix Remix record store of course). The Funky Fever lives the motto "Save The Vinyl" and remains an event for Funk and Soul freaks, for breakdancers, for old school rap lovers and for those who like to move to Black Music. Boom!
Deep, deep thanks from our music-lover-hearts for the long lasting support that we get from those young and good-looking men....
Levanna McLean aka Northern Soul Girl came to the attention of the music industry through her up beat dance videos on Youtube. Her videos even caught the eye of Pharrell Williams who she joined on stage dancing at his finale at the Brit Awards. Levanna joined the Soul Scene over 7 years ago and she continues to embrace her love of rare soul music through Djing, Dancing and making videos.
Join Levanna McLean during Not Too Young Swiss Soul Weekender 2019 as she takes to the decks to bring you her most soulful mix of Funk, Disco, Rhythm and Blues, Ska and more.... SOUL has no limits.
I was supposed to write some words about myself to let you know what you can expect from my DJ appearance at the world famous Not Too Young Weekender. I’m not exactly sure on which specific details of my life you want to be briefed, so I made this quiz. Answer the following questions, count the points, find out how well you know me and have a jolly time.

0 - 10 Points: You seem to be a valuable member of society. You don’t interact with low lifes like Martin. Congratulations on your sincere life.

45 Points: Congratulations! You have won a bootleg of The Snake on 33rpm.
Here are some tunes I’m going to play:

Hello NTY, I’m Michele and I come from Bologna, Italy!
I started out collecting records for 10 years now, mainly Popcorn and Rhythm and Blues 45s but in recent years I started to fill my selections with more Soul, Gospel, Funk and a pinch of Boogaloo & 60s Garage.
Since 2013, I am co-founder and co-resident of Bologna Calibro 7 Pollici, a crew of passionates like me who swore eternal love to American and Jamaican vintage black music!
This is the first time for me in Switzerland and I’m looking forward to play my records in Lucerne and meet old and new friends…

Lucerne’s Rare-Soul-crafters number one and flagship of the NTY DJ crew. The Spin Club duo stands for vinyl music of the 60’s/ 70’s/ 80’s dished up by the self-styled but definitely treasured nerds Henning Boogali (f.k.a. Boogaloo) and Emel Ilter. «Strictly-original»-proved.
They are into soul music you might come up against scarcely, mostly preferring obscure tracks. Still they appreciate the classical 60’s (Northern) Soul sound and create a respectable mixture of oddish but catchy styles. They are two personalities who have bats in the belfry without any doubt – which they proudly present behind the DJ decks while DJing back-to-back, doing some proper Four Tops moves.
