Virginia, Richmond US
«Since I was a teenager I've collected records of a lot of different genres. However, by the time my mid 20s rolled around I'd honed my focus on soul, funk, and gospel 45s from all over the country but with a particular emphasis on tunes from my home state of Virginia. I try to share my finds on my mixcloud page and I have posted a lot of regional gospel sounds on my YouTube channel. I Dj at random nights around Richmond and on a semi regular night with my friend Jason Hamlin that we call Orbitsville.»

An experienced dancer herself, she has played at some well regarded nights both in the UK and in Russia, including residencies at Bump in Hoxton, Buffalo Bar in Islington and Funk Explosion in Moscow, as well as regular guest slots, always making sure the dancefloor is packed.

We got to know Flo when he moved into Henning’s old flat. An acquaintance, as they occur only in movies. And how often in movies, there's also with Flo a happy ending.
Flo Matt a.k.a. Buddy Flo has not only the flexibility, which he proudly shows off at the Soul Yoga Sessions but also a nose for the exquisite black gold. He particularly likes the Rrrolitas that really hit deep into the heart and play on one's heart strings. But in his collection you’ll also find some Modern Soul mover that make you throw your hands and clothes in the air.
- Sarah Vaughan - Mama He Treats Your Daughter Mean
- Lee Brackett - Ruby
- Dee Dee Gartrell - Second Hand Love
- Ray J. & Norma Jean - This Is Our Song Of Love
- Jerry Ganey - Like I Never Loved Before
It all started with granny’s record player and his parents’ collection. Beatles, Stones, The Who and The Doors were those to inflame his passion for music of the 60s and 70s. Rock music was quickly followed up by Soul, Funk, Jazz and Rap.
For 20 years now he is known as DJ Pesa. Though DJing became a minor matter for the family father his main focus is diggin’ deeply in crates for the treasured vinyl.
Since 2012 he is hosting his own radio show «Lost&Found» on national radio station SRF Virus. He loves to discover his own forgotten records in his collection while preparing his shows and that he can play stuff that wouldn’t be played on any dancefloor.
People shouldn’t ask him about the number of records he owns cause he doesn’t know - as most of addicted collectors don’t! Cause the answer is always the same: «It’s still not enough!»
We’re very much looking forward to Pesa DJing at the NTY cause we’re absolutely thankful for his support and his understanding of the craziness of collecting vinyl.
I have a punk-hardcore background, spent my adolescence going to gigs, playing in a short-life band, writin' for fanzines and buying a lot of records. Then, looking for some other exciting music, I discover Motown and the Philly sound and I start going to allnighters and other soul events, djing and still buying a lot of vinyl.
I cut my teeth playing records in one of the worst american bar in Milan, my hometown. Then, with some other friends, I started organizing dj sets with the newborn IL CLUB DEL VINILE crew. When we split up, me and Fred Bully (a.k.a. Torcia) came up with the idea of SOUL 3000, the night we're still doing in Milan. I'm organizing another soul club in Tortona, a little town in Piedmont. It's called THE NIGHT OWLS and got an original formula, mixing soul themed movies and dj sets.
Got a mish-mash attitude in collecting and djing, lovin' to play records from late 60ies crossover to modern soul from the 80ies, not forgettin' some of the best contemporary tunes.
Can't wait to share my love for soul music with you!»
5 tunes Enrico surely plays in Lucerne:
Lee Williams & The Cymbals - A Girl From A Country Town
Bettye Swann - When The Game Is Played On You
Alma Faye - I Believed
Curtis - How Can I Tell Her
Luther - Don't Wanna Be A Fool
Fabian is based in Basel and record collector since school days. Mainly into classic 60s Northern Soul, Detroit, mid-tempo and beat ballads but also genres such as Early Reggae and 6Ts Beat.
Not really a DJ but rather listener and collector, he loves his Juke Box and entertaining his neighbours with far too loud and much too good music. It is what's in the grooves that counts!
Top of Fabian's box:
Jock Mitchell - Not a chance in a million (Impact)
The Cautions - No other way (Shrine)
Bobby Kline - Say something nice to me (MB)
Jimmy Wallace - I’ll be back (Alpha)
Little Nicky Soul - I wanted to tell you (Shee)
Flo Dalton... and there's nothing else left to say.
This man actually moved to Switzerland because of its cheese and for some specific birds he likes to watch. After living here for a few days even the bus drivers started welcoming him by name and high-fiving his bald head. Besides that he spins some heavily scratched records with Rocksteady, Reggae and Mariachi on them. He loves to dance to House and knows every Techno track by heart (which he tries to sing along).
As a proper member of the Swiss Soul Club cranking crew he's also in charge of the Off Beat Floor which you'll be able to enjoy on Friday night.
Phuoc Ngo a.k.a. is one of the organisers of the NOT TOO YOUNG Swiss Soul Weekender and the busiest Soul Traveler we know. He loves fancy hotels and uptempo Soul but recently he had to confess that he gets more and more into Modern Soul. So we will be very excited to listen to his sets during the 6th edition of NTY...
"Funky Fever" is a party label which takes place every first Saturday of the month in Lucerne. The series was launched nearly 20 years ago in the Bar 57 with Dj Black Virus and experienced - thanks to DJ Murphy - its revival in the Bar 59.
Now Funky Fever has been inviting for over 7 years almost all Funk and Soul DJs from Switzerland as a guest. Even some international DJs rocked the turntables, such as Tobias Kyrmaier (DE), Mr. Thing (UK), Skeme Richards (US), Amir Abdullah (US), Amerigo Gazeway (US) or Double D (DE).
Another highlights were the performances by the bands "Breakestra» (US), the "Mighty Mocambos» (DE) and the "James Brown Tribute Show".
Behind the label are the vinyl freaks DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab who you can meet for a chat with beer also every Wednesday in the Haifish Bar in Lucerne (or at the Co-Mix Remix record store of course). The Funky Fever lives the motto "Save The Vinyl" and remains an event for Funk and Soul freaks, for breakdancers, for old school rap lovers and for those who like to move to Black Music. Boom!
Deep, deep thanks from our music-lover-hearts for the long lasting support that we get from those young and good-looking men....
Hendrik Irmscher, ladies and gentlemen!
(Not to confuse him with Henning. He's just his soul brother!)
Having started collecting 45s in early 2000, he set in his record journey by collecting 70s Powerpop/Mod and 60s Garage. At that time, he began DJing and organizing some regular parties in Berlin. He has been specializing in collecting Northern Soul and Rare Soul 45s. Recently he started promoting bigger events under the flag of «Soul’d Up - Berlin». Twice a year they celebrate an Alldayer and Allnighter with international guest DJs.
Here are some of the previous spots he played at besides Soul'd Up:

«If you ask me what I believe, I’d say I believe in the Easter bunny. Honestly! And I love fried eggs more than my Grandmother.»
Even if there are a few record stores left in Zurich, Hum Records is the first stop for all music and record lovers in town. J. Sayne is one of the owners and responsible for the proper chat about proper music to expand your horizon. Geographically, this can reach as far as Ethiopia or Guadaloupe, musically from Cumbia over Nigerian Highlife to Greek Ambient. The basis, however, always remains hiphop. As a DJ J. Sayne is therefore more a teacher than a preacher, but always a pleasers.
What J. Sayne will definitely will bring along on Sunday:
- No Northern Soul,
- no House, nor Trance,
- no Swing,
- no Blues...
- and very much likely 45s.
Jan aka DJ Mister Kova is a shy fella, but he's passionate when it comes to impelling Funk, Soul and RnB. He likes the style and groove of the 60ies and 70ies. He was shaped in his youth by idols like Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and George Clinton. As a celebrating guest at the Helsinki Soul Stew and Soul Gallen partys, he came a little closer to Soul music. Since five years ago he had only collected albums and then, in a small record shop in Vienna, he was persuaded to collect some singles. At the same time he tried his luck as a DJ and currently you can meet him in the bars of Prague - and now also on the NTY17!
These 5 tunes he'll surely be playing at our Weekender:
1. Shattered Man - O Jays
2. Ill Bet You - Billy Butler
3. The First Thing I Do In The Morning - Joyce Williams
4. Change, Change, Change - Charles Bradley
5. The X-Sorcist - The Devils
Our friend Johan has always been a devoted attendee of NTY alongside Klaartje and Diggin' Dave. Now we're happy to announce that he's bringing his records with him to hit them on the record player. Whoop! Now, he's introducing himself:
«Hi all, my name is Johan Sneppe, born in Brussels, currently living in Leuven, home of Stella Artois, best premium pils in the world by far. :)
I’ve been collecting records for over 20 years now… Started out with hip hop. My devoted search for all those crazy samples and breaks (used in those records) got me into jazz, soul, funk and all that other good stuff.
Started collecting 45’s somewhere around 2003, first mainly funk 45’s, then quickly into pretty much everything that sounds dope to my ears. Really enjoy it all when going out. Nowadays at home I’m mostly listening to male vocal group (harmony) soul & sweet soul though.
Besides music, I’m always up for a good read or meal, sports (mostly watching though) and drinking/clowning.
Catch you guys in Lucerne! Schollekes!»
5 spins Johan’s definitely going to roll at NTY17:
- Percy Stone & The Explosions – Chained – Ram
- Art Neville – Heartaches – Sansu
- Louis Curry – You’re Just Plain Nice – Reel
- Joe & David Jr. Kingsby – Keep On Walking – S&K
- Tribe – Got To Be Something More – Farr

You can mainly find him in clubs in Manchester and across the U.K., inficting pain and misfourtune with his enviables playbox.

Emulations – These Are The Things – Emulate
Frank Hutson – Old Man Me – Goodie Train

Symphonic Four – Who Do You Think You’re Fooling - Zudan
Hi, I’m King Gin. Instead of an old fashioned self-description I created this mad lib. Fill out the blanks and figure out who I am for yourself:
King Gin was born and raised in Lucerne Switzerland which is a very _____ place to live. He started to play his records in public in 2005 to impress _____. Unfortunately that didn’t work out. Probably because he played barbaric tunes like _____ and, Lord have mercy, _____. At least he got _____ for free. That’s why he’s still around, playing music out of different genres like _____, _____ and of course _____. If you didn’t already have the _____ to meet King Gin in person, you’ll recognize him by his totally rad catchphrases like _____ or _____. He’s very ____ to play for you some proper music at the NTY-Sunday-Alldayer. Feel free to bring him back to life with a refreshing drink. He prefers _____, ______ and not to forget _____.
Here are some tunes I’m going to play:
1. Ernie Washington – Lonesome Shack
2. Ann Caudell – Longing for You
3. The Demons – Going to the Dance
4. Lucille Mathis – I’m Not Your Regular Woman
5. Lee Moses – Bad Girl

She used to have a radio show on radio-usine.net, at the usine. It was called "Enjoy Yourself!". You can find the archives on the website she managed with some friends.
What she will bring along in her record case? Nothing major but chill out!
- The Magic Tones - Together We Shall Overcome

- George Jackson- That Lonely Night
- The escorts - The Hurt
- Eddie and Ernie - Turn Here
«Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere, from the well known to the obscure.» - That’s how Patrik describes himself as a DJ.
Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his parents eclectic combination of world music all which became infused with his own love for hip-hop, jungle, dub, reggae and more, Patman ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful harmonies, heavy drums and thumping basslines... all on top of a pronounced foot-tapping rocksteady beat.
An active member of his local 68/69 reggae community, Patrik is a part of the Get Ready! Crew alongside Thomas Eiene, Joachim Sande and Jan O, a monthly clubnight in oslo AKA Bosslo.
«In Oslo where ravers swing, it’s the Get Ready! thing.» - His love for music goes beyond the spectrum of selecting tunes. As a cratedigger and DJ he has made plenty of new friends from all over the world who also enjoy collecting/ selecting the sounds of young Jamaica.
«For me, it’s all about mood and the groove... playing those chunes that get you rock and sway without you realizing it, regardless of tempo or release date, although mostly late 6Ts early 7Ts.»
These 5 tunes will definitely be in Patrik's box in March:
- Norma Frazer - Respect
- Kingstonians - Put Down Your Fire
- Alton Ellis - Can I change My Mind
- Hugh Malcolm - Good Time Rock
- Delroy Wilson -This Life Makes Me Wonder
Pazi the Fist is resident DJ of the first hour of SMART Lion Zurich. Although the term «Fist» can associate intolerance, Andy is diverse in its musical interest: Northern Soul to Reggae to Ska, all these styles have a space in his collection and in his DJ sets. Again he will let us skank on the Offbeat Floor on Friday night.
Tall guy Raffish Raab will probably suffer from the results of altitude sickness being from the country below sea level and playing at the NTY Soul Weekender in Lucerne but that will not stop him from throwing some soul in the bag to make fingers snap, heads nod and livers shiver with a selection ranging from straight jazz to dreamy vocals and exotica 45's
Already at age 12 the urge to search and find new music existed and manifested in a collection of tapes full of radio recordings, taped over and over again to obtain the perfect collection. A part time job for someone in high-school alright.
However, the love for jazz and vinyl did not came until years later. It was in the late 90ies when producing jungle and searching for the perfect sample the 1 euro thrift shop records started to replace the tapes on the shelves and slowly but steady more and more jazz records filled the room. Still mainly bought for samples, they gathered dust for a few more years until one day listening to a Don Rendell record made time freeze. From this moment on, the focus shifted completely: the interest for electronic music stayed but the drive to explore the rich and beautiful history of jazz music slowly but steady became a bigger and integral part of his life until this very day.
Playing records at gigs became a way of reliving and sharing many of the discoveries to date - making a set by Raffish Raab a very personal listening experience - join the Sunday brunch to find out yourself!

«I've been into rare soul since my late teenage. As taste varies I've in recent years found out that I like a lot of different styles from northern soul, funk, gospel and raw uptempo 70s soul. During my years on the Swedish soul scene I've promoted a few clubs but in recent years I've been lucky enough to have been invited to DJ a few different venues across Sweden. I'm always on the lookout for sounds to play. A bit restless I guess. This is the first major weekender I've been invited to outside Sweden and of course I'm very excited!»

Spin Club Lucerne
Spin Club Lucerne
SPIN CLUB LUCERNE [spɪn klʌɓ luɕɜɻɲ]:
Lucerne’s Rare-Soul-crafters number one and flagship of the Swiss Soul Club. The party label stands for vinyl music of the 60’s/ 70’s/ 80’s dished up by the self-styled but definitely treasured nerds Henning Boogali (f.k.a. Boogaloo) and Emel Ilter. «Strictly-original»-proved.
They are into soul music you might come up against scarcely, mostly preferring obscure tracks. Still they appreciate the classical 60’s (Northern) Soul sound and create a respectable mixture of oddish but catchy styles. They are two personalities who have bats in the belfry without any doubt – which they proudly present behind the DJ decks while DJing back-to-back, doing some proper Four Tops moves.

In this party we are sharing our favourite records and we are striving to invite good DJs from different cities and countries.

Will has been into Soul since his mid teens and an avid album only collector for many years but has only been dj’ing for about 6 years at various niters, aldayers, soul nights. Since then he has dj'ed in UK venues such as Radcliffe, Rugby, Different Strokes, Empty Bottles, Black Bee, Horse & Groom, DAB Soul Weekender and others. He was a resident at A Taste Of Honey for a few years.
Will has also had the pleasure to dj in Hamburg, Vienna, Gent, Berlin and Barcelona in the last few years.
Will says about himself "I have always been open minded and forward thinking in my music and like to try and introduce new tunes to people from my albums whither it’s gritty soul/funky edge or 60’s/70’s crossover".
