The Roots:
- Exactly 20 years ago, as a clueless young scooterist, I went with my friends to a scooter run with an allnighter.
- There I heard Northern Soul for the first time and instantly fell head over heels in love.
- I was fascinated by the feelings this music triggered in me and by the style of dancing (which I still can’t really do well today 😅).
DJing:
- Since 2008.
- Through the local club scene in Ingolstadt, I dove more into the house music scene and later into all kinds of genres (commercial).
- For 10 years I played intensively almost every weekend, regionally and beyond, across southern Germany.
Soul Scene:
- Only from around 2016 did I start occasionally visiting the big weekenders in Germany.
- I bought single vinyl records very sporadically.
- Only since the pandemic have I been collecting soul records intensively.
Genres:
- I love everything from 60s to early 80s R&B, Crossover, Northern, Modern, Sweet Soul, Funk that triggers a feeling in me. 😊
- Alongside Northern Soul, in the last few years I’ve also developed a deep love for Sweet Soul and mid-tempo Crossover.
What I Love About Soul:
- I love bathing in melancholy with heavy lyrics and melodies.
- On the other hand, I love that especially in Northern Soul, sad lyrics are often carried by uplifting melodies.
- In no other genre can I feel music in the same way.
Records I Like to Play:
- Our Day Is Here – J.P. Robinson
- It’s All Over But The Shouting – Ann Sexton
- Chaos (In My Heart) – Vivian Copeland
- Look On The Good Side – The Invitations
- He Won’t Love You – Delores Eiler
